Croatia Rushes to Pull Nationals from Middle East
The evacuation unfolded in stages throughout the day. A Croatia Airlines charter flight departing Dubai touched down in Zagreb early Friday morning carrying 157 passengers. Two further charter flights from Dubai followed later that morning, and an additional aircraft configured with 166 seats was expected to complete its landing in Zagreb before the day's end.
With those arrivals, the government confirmed that all Croatian tourists and transit passengers in the United Arab Emirates who had sought official assistance will have been fully evacuated.
Evacuation efforts are set to continue into the weekend. A flight scheduled for Saturday will target Croatian nationals remaining in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, while the operation will simultaneously prioritize the extraction of vulnerable citizens currently located in Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
The government further signaled its readiness to scale up the operation, stating it stands prepared to organize additional charter flights from both Dubai and Riyadh should conditions on the ground deteriorate and demand further intervention.
